Margaret Atwood

Margaret Atwood is a poet, novelist, short story writer and critic. Her work in the 90's has been considered prophetic in its criticism of our society's decaying morality. Her post-apocalyptic novel, The Handmaid's Tale, warned of the dangers of fundamentalism. It won the Canadian Governor General's Award for fiction in 1986 and was made into a movie in 1990 with a screenplay by Harold Pinter. Atwood has been called "one of the most troubling and most visionary authors of our time."
